AN ACT Relating to exemptions from interstate trip permits for commercial vehicles; adding a new section to chapter 46.85 RCW; and declaring an emergency.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 46.85 RCW to read as follows:

          Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, no interstate trip permit is required for operation of a commercial vehicle licensed in another jurisdiction within five miles from the border of the licensing jurisdiction if that jurisdiction grants a similar privilege to commercial vehicles from this state.

NEW SECTION. Sec. 2.     This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
