AN ACT Relating to trapping of bear; adding a new section to chapter 77.16 RCW; and declaring an emergency.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:
NEW SECTION. Sec. 1. A new section is added to chapter 77.16 RCW to read as follows:
It is unlawful to use snares to trap black bear or grizzly bear. It is unlawful to trap black bear or grizzly bear by using live traps, darts, or any other means used to take bear live for the purpose of moving the bear into a different geographic area, except as authorized by law or rules adopted under this title.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2. This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, the support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and shall take effect immediately.
