AN ACT Relating to the state air fair; and adding a new section to chapter 1.20 RCW.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF WASHINGTON:

NEW SECTION. Sec. 1.  A new section is added to chapter 1.20 RCW to  read as follows:

          The legislature recognizes the importance of aviation to the history and economy of the state of Washington.  Beginning in 1969, there has been an air fair during one weekend in August at Paine field in Snohomish county.  This annual event, sponsored by a service organization, has provided entertainment, educational information, displays, and demonstrations to citizens of this state and to tourists, and has attracted international attention.  Proceeds from the fair have been distributed to charities and used for scholarships.  In 1974, in a gubernatorial proclamation, the fair was declared the official state air show.  The legislature now recognizes the air fair at Paine field each August to be the official Washington state air fair.
