BACKGROUND:

 

Current statute provides that monies received from fines, forfeitures, penalties and assessments be deposited in the Public Safety Education Account (PSEA).

 

Funds deposited in the PSEA are appropriated to promote traffic safety education, highway safety, criminal justice and training, crime victims' compensation, judicial education, the judicial information system, winter recreation parking and state game programs.

 

SUMMARY:

 

The motorcycle safety education program in the Department of Licensing and the safety education officer program of the Washington State Patrol are added to the statute to qualify for an appropriation from the PSEA.
