Exempting Senate Bill No. 6077 and Senate Bill No. 6079 from the resolution limiting the subjects to be considered in the 1995 first special session.


MOTION


      On motion of Senator Spanel, the rules were suspended and Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 8415 was advanced to second reading and placed on the second reading calendar.

      On motion of Senator Haugen, the following resolution was adopted:


SENATE RESOLUTION 1995-8663


By Senators Haugen, Spanel and McAuliffe


      WHEREAS, Richard Reim is retiring after thirty-two years of dedicated service to the state of Washington and Stanwood School District; and

      WHEREAS, Mr. Reim was born and raised in the Skagit Valley and graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School; and

      WHEREAS, After earning his degree in education from Western Washington College of Education, he began his distinguished teaching career as a sixth grade teacher at Stanwood Elementary School; and

      WHEREAS, Mr. Reim moved from the classroom in 1970 to pursue an administrative role in education, he continued to serve as a mentor, role model, and friend to generations of Stanwood families; and

      WHEREAS, In June, he will retire as principal of Church Creek Elementary School, where he has spent almost half of his exemplary career as an educator; and

      WHEREAS, Mr. Reim's dedication to his school district has gone beyond his administrative duties, as he volunteered countless hours to serve as chairman of numerous levy and bond election campaigns; and

      WHEREAS, While Mr. Reim may soon be gone from his official duties at the Stanwood School District, it will be a long time before his loyalty and contributions to the district will be forgotten;

      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the Washington State Senate recognize and honor Richard Reim for three decades of selfless commitment and dedication to the students and families of the Stanwood School District and wish him much luck and happiness for a well deserved retirement; and

      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be immediately transmitted by the Secretary of the Senate to Richard Reim.


      There being no objection, the President reverted the Senate to the sixth order of business.

I've informed them that I need a script."

      Debate ensued.

      The motion by Senator Hochstatter failed and the amendment was not adopted.
