This section defines the role of a preceptor as used in WAC
246-834-066. A certified professional midwife (CPM) applicant for licensure as a midwife may use more than one preceptor to meet the requirements for licensure under WAC
246-834-066.
(1) A preceptor for clinical requirements including observed, managed, and assisted births, and prenatal and postpartum examinations must:
(a) Have a current Washington state license as a midwife under chapter
18.50 RCW, physician under chapter
18.71 RCW, osteopathic physician under chapter
18.57 RCW, or certified nurse midwife under chapter
18.79 RCW; and
(b) Have actively practiced obstetrics for at least three consecutive years or attended at least 150 births.
(2) A preceptor for legend drugs and devices must have a current Washington state credential and be, within the individual's scope of practice, qualified to use and administer legend drugs and devices described in RCW
18.50.115 and WAC
