(1) There shall be at least 2 hoisting ropes. Each rope shall be:
(a) Made of a good grade of elevator traction wire rope;
(b) At least 9.525 mm (0.75 in.) in diameter and possessing a safety factor of 5;
(c) Fastened by babbitted tapered elevator sockets or other acceptable methods. If cable clamps are used, a minimum of 3 fist grip or equivalent clamps shall be provided. U-shaped clamps shall not be acceptable.
(2) The car platform shall not be more than 152.4 mm (6 in.) above the top landing when the counterweight buffer is fully compressed. The counterweight shall be a minimum of 152.4 mm (6 in.) from the deflector sheave when the car buffer is fully compressed.
