(1) Per WAC
181-82A-215, all teachers are required to hold at least one endorsement. Candidates pursuing a science endorsement in a state-approved program must earn and/or hold the science endorsement before September 1, 2019. After September 1, 2019, only certified teachers with designated science endorsements, which include biology, chemistry, earth and space science, or physics, can obtain the general science endorsement.
(2) Individuals certified in Washington state and holding a science endorsement prior to September 1, 2019, are exempt from the requirements of this section.
(3) Individuals applying for a Washington state teacher certificate that have completed an out-of-state teacher preparation program in general science may have two years in which to add one of the designated science endorsements.
