PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
Subject of Possible Rule Making: Limousine definitions.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 46.04.274.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Legislation was signed into law on March 17, 2006, that removed all existing limousine definitions from law and provides for defining limousines by rule. This rule process is to place current definitions into rule and add definitions for vehicles that are not currently defined but are in use in the limousine industry.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: The Washington state patrol is responsible under chapter 46.72A RCW to perform inspections of limousines defined in RCW 46.04.274.
Process for Developing New Rule: Negotiated rule making.
