Title: 3:1 Pharmacy Assistant to Pharmacist Ratio.
Issuing Entity: Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
Subject: WAC 246-901-100(4) states the Board of Pharmacy has the authority to give conditional approval of pilot or demonstration projects for innovative applications in the utilization of pharmacy assistants. The board has determined that the utilization of pharmacy assistants at a ratio of three pharmacy assistants to one pharmacist will allow the pharmacist at the Washington State Penitentiary to expand into a more clinical role to improve patient's therapeutic outcomes.
