PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF

RETIREMENT SYSTEMS

[ Filed June 20, 2000, 1:50 p.m. ]

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Defined contribution plan retirement systems under chapter 41.34 RCW.

Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: Chapter 41.34 RCW and RCW 41.50.050.

Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Currently, there are no rules to provide guidance to members of defined contribution plan retirement systems under chapter 41.34 RCW. Process for Developing New Rule: The department did not seek input on the preliminary draft prior to filing the CR-101. Copies of the draft rule will be circulated to interested parties for comment. Interested parties include those persons known to the department, such as state employees who are or will become members of the system, their employers and representatives. We will also make copies of the draft rules available to any other person who requests a copy and/or opportunity to comment.
