PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

(Medical Assistance Administration)
Subject of Possible Rule Making: Amending chapter 388-535 WAC, Dental-related services.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 74.08.090, 74.09.035, 74.09.520, 74.09.500, 42 U.S.C. 1396d(a), C.F.R. 440.100 and 440.225.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The Medical Assistance Administration intends to delete unnecessary definitions and clarify and update existing policy; this includes crowns, orthodontic coverage for children, billing clients for certain services, the ABCD program, replacing the current references to the current dental terminology (CDT) edition 2 with a more general reference, and other clarifications and updates as necessary.

Process for Developing New Rule: The department invites the interested public to review and provide input on the draft language of this WAC. Draft material and information about how to participate may be obtained from the department representative listed below.
