PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Amending chapter 388-110 WAC, Contracted residential care services and related sections.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 74.39A.010, 74.39A.020, 74.39A.070.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The purposes of amending these rules are (1) to incorporate into rules dementia care pilot project standards for contracting with boarding homes to provide dementia care to department clients, (2) to make revisions necessary as a result of amendments made to chapter 388-78A WAC, and (3) to review and update the rules under Executive Order 97-02.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule: Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) welcomes the public to take part in developing the rules. Anyone interested in participating should contact the staff person indicated below. At a later date, DSHS will file proposed rules with the Office of the Code Reviser for public comment and a public hearing, and send a copy to everyone currently on the mailing list and anyone else who requests a copy.
