PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Chapter 388-825 WAC, Division of developmental disabilities service rules.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 71A.12.030, 71A.12.040.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: These rules are necessary to amend WAC 388-825-560 implementing ESSB 6090, Section 205 (1)(e), 2005-2007 conference budget (chapter 518, Laws of 2005), which established a flexible family support pilot program for families who are providing care and support for family members with developmental disabilities. The family support pilot program is funded through June 30, 2007. These amendments will allow the reimbursement to parents who have purchased necessary goods or services.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule: The department welcomes public participation in the development of these rules. At a later date, the department will publish proposed rules for public comment, and a public hearing will be held before the rules are adopted as permanent.
