PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

NATURAL RESOURCES

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Chapter 332-130 WAC, Minimum standards for land boundary surveys and geodetic surveys and guidelines for the preparation of land descriptions and chapter 332-120 WAC, Survey monuments -- Removal or destruction.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 58.24.030, 58.24.040, 58.09.050, and 58.17.160.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: For clarification and to bring existing rules up to date with current technology and updating survey standards and monument removal procedures.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule:       Negotiated rule making.
