PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

BUILDING CODE COUNCIL

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: Amendment of the 2006 International Fire Code, chapter 51-54 WAC.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 19.27.074.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: An emergency rule was adopted April 2, 2008, regarding emergency plans for schools in response to the safe schools plan adopted by the legislature in 2007. The proposed amendment to the 2006 International Fire Code, outlines basic requirements for lockdown and shelter-in-place plans.

     Process for Developing New Rule: Technical advisory group (TAG) review.

     Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication.
