PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING

     Subject of Possible Rule Making: To offer a supplemental fundamentals course to applicants to attain the required one hundred and twenty hours of classroom education.

     Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 18.280.070(2), home inspectors.

     Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: This rule would address home inspectors who have previously taken a minimum of sixty hours of education courses in approved fundamentals courses relating the practice of home inspection five or less years prior to the effective date of the law to use this education towards the required one hundred and twenty hours of education required for initial licensure.

     Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

     Process for Developing New Rule:      Agency study.
