Subject of Possible Rule Making: Electronic authentication.

Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 19.34.101.

Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Currently, the renewal period for a certification authority is one year. It is more efficient and better for the customer to change this requirement to two years, to coincide with the renewal of operative personnel.

Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: Department of information services does not regulate but would have an interest in this subject.

Process for Developing New Rule: Pilot rule making.

Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication by contacting Pamela Floyd, P.O. Box 40234, 801 Capitol Way South, Olympia, WA 98504-0234, phone (360) 725-0310, fax (360) 586-4989, e-mail
