NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETINGS
REHABILITATION COUNCIL
Thursday, July 21, 2011
3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Courtyard Marriott
1515 Commerce Street
Tacoma, WA 98402
The Washington state rehabilitation council is a group of fifteen governor-appointed volunteers. The council was created by Title 1, Section 105 of the Rehabilitation Act and by Executive Order 04-04, for the purpose of increasing employment and economic advancement for jobseekers with disabilities that have been or are being served by the division of vocational rehabilitation (DVR). We learn about how the vocational rehabilitation (VR) service system is working, by listening to feedback from customers it serves.
The role of the council is to focus more on improving VR service system as a whole, than considering individual case concerns. Our responsibilities include gathering public input, which is why you are being invited to share your thoughts. You are not required to attend. This is not a regular DVR appointment with your counselor. We will take comment for ninety minutes. The last half hour will leave time for mingling and individual follow-up.
We are interested in how the VR system is working, so we hope you will help us understand:
• What you understand about how participating in DVR
services may support your effort to find a job;
• Whether your questions are answered by DVR staff in a timely manner;
• Whether or not you feel that your process will lead to a job you want;
• Whether you think you will have the wage and benefits that you need;
• What you would want decision makers to consider for the next generation of people using DVR services.
