Description: Washington is one of fifteen states that received an eighteen month planning grant from the centers for medicare and medicaid services (CMS) to design innovative and integrated care models to improve the quality, coordination, and cost effectiveness of care for individuals who are eligible for medicare and medicaid.
As part of the planning grant deliverables, the Washington health care authority and the department of social and health services are jointly submitting a design plan to CMS requesting funding for a demonstration project designed to more closely integrate services for individuals receiving services under both programs.
The state is seeking public comment on the proposal before submission to CMS on April 26, 2012. If CMS funding is approved, the state anticipates enrollment in integrated service delivery models no sooner than January 1, 2013.
Comment Period: Anticipated to begin March 12, 2012, and end thirty days from design plan posting.
