FISH AND WILDLIFE
[Order 20-184—Filed September 9, 2020, 3:20 p.m., effective September 9, 2020, 3:20 p.m.]
Effective Date of Rule: Immediately upon filing.
Purpose: The purpose of this rule is to close the Puget Sound commercial sea cucumber fishery in sea cucumber Management District 2-1 (Areas 23A, 23C, 23D, and 29).
Citation of Rules Affected by this Order: Repealing WAC 220-340-73000V; and amending WAC 220-340-730.
Under RCW 34.05.350
the agency for good cause finds that immediate adoption, amendment, or repeal of a rule is necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, or general welfare, and that observing the time requirements of notice and opportunity to comment upon adoption of a permanent rule would be contrary to the public interest.
Reasons for this Finding: This emergency rule is necessary to close the Puget Sound commercial sea cucumber fishery in sea cucumber Management District 2-1 (23A, 23C, 23D, 29). This harvest quota has been reached, and this closure is necessary to prevent over harvest. Harvestable surpluses of sea cucumbers remain in districts specified to remain open.
There is insufficient time to adopt permanent rules.
