Clarification of the Classification of Neonicotinoid Pesticides for Outdoor Plant, Tree, and Turf Uses
On June 23, 2025, an interpretive statement regarding the Washington state department of agriculture's classification of neonicotinoid pesticides for commercial or home use was signed. On March 28, 2024, Governor Inslee signed SSB 5972 into law with an effective date of June 6, 2024. This bill was enacted into law to protect pollinators in the state of Washington by limiting the use of neonicotinoid pesticides in a manner that would reduce the likelihood of inadvertent harm to pollinators.
