PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
CENTER FOR DEAF AND
HARD OF HEARING YOUTH

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Student code of conduct and student disciplinary procedures amendments to comply with current federal regulations for Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 34.05.010(16), 72.42.041(2), 72.40.0191(12), and 72.40.0191(17); Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, 20 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: To bring the center for deaf and hard of hearing youth's (Washington school for the deaf) student conduct code, chapter 148-120 WAC, into compliance with the current federal regulations for Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 that specify how recipients of federal financial assistance covered by Title IX must respond to allegations of sexual harassment consistent with Title IX's prohibition against sex discrimination.
