PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
(Pharmacy Quality Assurance Commission)
[Filed July 23, 2025, 10:45 a.m.]
Subject of Possible Rule Making: Disciplinary action reporting time frames. The pharmacy quality assurance commission (commission) is considering amending WAC 246-945-231 to add a time frame for pharmaceutical firms to report disciplinary action to the commission.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW
18.64.005.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: Commission staff received feedback from interested parties about challenges concerning a time frame for pharmaceutical firms credentialed by the commission to report disciplinary action by another state, federal, or foreign authority to the commission per WAC 246-945-231. The commission will consider providing clarification in rule for pharmaceutical firms licensed by the commission by providing a time frame for licensees to report disciplinary action taken by another state, federal, or foreign authority. The commission voted to consider rule making to address the uncertainties at its May 22, 2025, business meeting.
Process for Developing New Rule: Collaborative rule making.
Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication by contacting Julia Katz, P.O. Box 47852, Olympia, WA 98504-7852, phone 360-236-4946, fax 360-236-2901, TTY 711, email PharmacyRules@doh.wa.gov.
