WSR 25-23-010
EXPEDITED RULES
DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
[Filed November 6, 2025, 3:24 p.m.]
Title of Rule and Other Identifying Information: Radiologic imaging professionals; correction of X-ray technician (limited scope) fees transposition error.
The department of health (department) is proposing rule amendments to WAC 246-926-990 correcting a typographical error in application fee rules for X-ray technicians.
Purpose of the Proposal and Its Anticipated Effects, Including Any Changes in Existing Rules: The department establishes application fees to cover the cost of the health profession licensing and to comply with law under RCW 43.70.250. Through previous rule making under WSR 25-16-010, the department adjusted fees for a newly licensed profession under radiologic technologists and made a transposition error that unintentionally adjusted the application fee for X-ray technicians.
The department is proposing amendments to WAC 246-926-990(3), X-ray technicians, to correct the error and return the application fee, mistakenly changed to $150, back to the accurate value of $105. The proposed amendments only adjust the erroneous fee charged to this radiologic imaging profession.
Reasons Supporting Proposal: The proposed amendments will correct the fee rule to align with the accurate value of the application fee for X-ray technicians. By amending the rule, the department is correcting an error to X-ray technician application fees.
Statutory Authority for Adoption: RCW 18.84.040, 18.84.120, 43.70.110, and 43.70.250.
Statute Being Implemented: RCW 18.84.120.
Rule is not necessitated by federal law, federal or state court decision.
Name of Proponent: Department of health, governmental.
Name of Agency Personnel Responsible for Drafting, Implementation, and Enforcement: Tommy Simpson III, 111 Israel Road S.E., Tumwater, WA 98501, 564-669-8421.
This notice meets the following criteria to use the expedited adoption process for these rules:
Corrects typographical errors, makes address or name changes, or clarifies language of a rule without changing its effect.
Explanation of the Reason the Agency Believes the Expedited Rule-Making Process is Appropriate: The department is proposing amendments through the expedited rule-making process to make a correction to application fees for X-ray technicians. Expedited rule making is appropriate to implement RCW 34.05.353 (1)(c) to correct a typographical error and return the fee to the appropriate amount for applicants.
NOTICE
THIS RULE IS BEING PROPOSED UNDER AN EXPEDITED RULE-MAKING PROCESS THAT WILL ELIMINATE THE NEED FOR THE AGENCY TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARINGS, PREPARE A SMALL BUSINESS ECONOMIC IMPACT STATEMENT, OR PROVIDE RESPONSES TO THE CRITERIA FOR A SIGNIFICANT LEGISLATIVE RULE. IF YOU OBJECT TO THIS USE OF THE EXPEDITED RULE-MAKING PROCESS, YOU MUST EXPRESS YOUR OBJECTIONS IN WRITING AND THEY MUST BE SENT TO Tommy Simpson III, Department of Health, Office of Health Professions, P.O.
