Subject of Possible Rule Making: Chapter 51-50 WAC, amendments to the 2024 International Building Code related to minimum dwelling unit size directed by HB [2SHB] 2071 and RCW
19.27.801.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The 2024 legislature passed HB [2SHB] 2071 and created RCW
19.27.801. This statute directs the state building code council (SBCC) to develop amendments that would allow for a minimum dwelling unit size that is less than the requirements for an efficiency dwelling unit in the international building code.
Process for Developing New Rule: Stakeholder and subject matter experts technical advisory group review.
