TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Establishing new rate setting procedures in chapter 468-270 WAC.
Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 47.56.877, 47.56.850, 47.56.030, 34.05.030, 47.56.165, 47.56.795, 47.46.100, and 47.46.105.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: RCW 47.56.877 authorizes the transportation commission (commission) to establish a new process for toll setting. As such, the commission must establish new procedures for setting toll rates and policies for all current and future authorized tolled facilities.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: Other agencies that regulate this subject are the Washington state department of transportation as the operator of the tolled facilities, and the office of the state treasurer who oversees the financing of tolled facilities.
