Subject of Possible Rule Making: The Washington department of fish and wildlife (WDFW) is considering changes to recreational scallop fishery regulations.
Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: WDFW is considering risks to harvester safety related to biotoxins in recreationally harvested scallops and may amend rules to mitigate those risks.
Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: The Washington department of health (DOH). WDFW works closely with DOH on managing biotoxin risks to public health in recreational and commercial bivalve shellfish fisheries.
Process for Developing New Rule: Agency study.
