Subject of Possible Rule Making: Reimbursing medical insurance premiums for survivors of law enforcement officers' and firefighters' (LEOFF) Plan 2 members who die in the line of duty.

Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 41.50.050 and chapter 39, Laws of 2026.

Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The department of retirement systems (DRS) is developing a rule to implement chapter 39, Laws of 2026, regarding reimbursing medical insurance premiums for spouses or domestic partners and dependent children of LEOFF Plan 2 members who die in the line of duty.

Process for Developing New Rule: Negotiated rule making.
