PREPROPOSAL STATEMENT OF INQUIRY

DEPARTMENT OF LICENSING

(Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors)

[Filed August 27, 1997, 1:35 p.m.]

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Adjust and adopt fees for the professional engineer and land surveyor program.

Statutes Authorizing the Agency to Adopt Rules on this Subject: RCW 43.24.086 together with RCW 18.43.050, [18.43.]060, [18.43.]080, [18.43.]100, [18.43.]130, [18.43.]160 and chapter 247, Laws of 1997.

Reasons Why Rules on this Subject may be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: State law requires that all professional licensing programs collect sufficient revenue through fees to recover the cost of the regulatory program. Charges are also assessed for pass-through examination costs. Adjustments are required periodically to assure that revenue is consistent with expenditures.

Other Federal and State Agencies that Regulate this Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: None.

Process for Developing New Rule: Agency study.

Interested parties can participate in the decision to adopt the new rule and formulation of the proposed rule before publication by contacting Alan E.
